Role and Purpose
The role of this committee is to improve communication both within the church membership and between the church and the community at large, in keeping with the Mission of the church.
The purpose is to:
- Publicize church events that are open to the community
- Engage local media to share stories about Good Shepherd endeavors
- Edit and distribute the weekly church newsletter
- Present proposals to the Vestry for approval
Responsibilities
- Organize the newsletter
- Liaise with the Rector and others to ensure an up-to-date website and social media (Belle Schwarzenbach)
- Contact media to publicize church events
- Contact media to share stories about Good Shepherd accomplishments/outreach
- Create and maintain welcome information for visitors and newcomers
- Create and maintain publicity to local hotels and businesses
- Act on approved proposals
Reporting
- A summary report of each meeting will be presented in written form to the Vestry
- Proposals for Vestry approval to be sent to the Rector by the second Tuesday of the month
- Prepare an annual report for the Annual Church Meeting
- Monitor and record expenditure (for future budget setting purposes)
