Family Youth and Children Committee
Purpose and Role
To explore, pursue, encourage and support events and programs that nurture and encourage spiritual development, biblical understanding, godly loving and social interaction among the children, youth and families at Good Shepherd, assisting them to deepen their lives of prayer and service, so that their relationship with God may be strengthened, and they are better able to live out the Baptismal Covenant.

Purpose and Role

Current Responsibilities
- Plan the Summer VBS program with the Rector, and share in the preparation, organisation, and running of the event, including the procurement of materials, resources, publicity and volunteers.
- Discuss and evaluate the Youth and Sunday School programs with the Rector, leaders and parents, in the light of the Committee’s purpose and role.
- Explore ideas for “extra-curricular” activities and social events and set a program.
- After consultation with the Rector, submit any proposals that bear additional costs to the Vestry, for approval.
- Act on approved proposals.
- Organize materials, resources, publicity, and volunteers for events.
- Evaluate events and invite feedback from the participants.
- Liaise with the Rector, staff and volunteers to ensure good communication.
- Liaise with the Church Secretary to ensure timely reimbursements for expenses.
- Publicise events and initiatives by providing information/fliers for The Call, the church’s website, the church Facebook page, and other social media.
Reporting
- A summary report of each meeting will be presented in written form to the Vestry
- Proposals for Vestry approval to be sent to the Rector by the second Tuesday of the month
- Prepare an annual report for the Annual Church Meeting
- Monitor and record expenditure (for future budget setting purposes)
Committee Size:
- Open committee to include Parents/Carers, Youth/Children’s Leaders and others interested in the nurture of Good Shepherd/El Buen Pastor families
- The Rector is chairperson. The committee appoints a Minutes clerk
- The Committee will set a regular day and time to meet each month (or every two months)
