Mission and Outreach Committee

Purpose and Role
To explore, pursue, encourage and support outreach programs that enable Good Shepherd to fulfil its Mission Statement, and which assist church members to live out their Baptismal Covenant.

Current Responsibilities
  • Monitor, oversee, support and evaluate current outreach programs, and encourage practical and manageable developments.
  • Recruit and support volunteers for current programs, and for agreed future programs.
  • Evaluate new suggestions for outreach and, if considered realistic, submit a proposal with recommended action plans, to the Vestry, including costs.
  • Liaise with the Rector, staff and volunteers to ensure good communication.
  • Liaise with the Church Secretary to ensure timely reimbursements are made.
  • Publicise the Outreach programs by providing information for The Call, the church’s website and the church Facebook page – or by encouraging program leaders to do so.

Reporting
  • A summary report of each meeting will be presented in written form to the Vestry
  • Proposals for Vestry approval to be sent to the Rector by the second Tuesday of the month
  • Prepare an annual report for the Annual Church Meeting
Committee Size:
  • Ideally five/six person committee
  • The committee appoints the chairperson and a Minute clerk
  • The Committee will set a regular day and time to meet each month (or every two months)
