Study Groups—Spring 2008 Tuesdays, 7:00 p.m. Fyodor Dostoevsky’s Crime and Punishment Our Study Groups read a variety of writings—novels, stories and poetry, as well as theology—for their literary and spiritual significance. This Spring, by “popular demand,” Dostoevsky returns to our Groups. We’ll be launching into Crime and Punishment, his remarkable novel of moral crisis, mental anguish—and, ultimately, renewal. Perfect Lenten reading, I’d say. All are most welcome! We meet in the Parlor. Once again, we’ll be reading from a Pevear/Volokhonsky translation. These are recent renderings that much more successfully capture the feel of both the Russian language as well as Dostoevsky’s own very particular style. Copies of this version are available for purchase in our Attic Bookstore. Here’s our meeting schedule. The indicated portions should be read before their sessions, if possible.
